Fortune :)

I was going to simply post a video of the song, but I couldn’t not post the whole scene. I love how it was all done without any dialogue, and all you see is people’s reactions to the news of the then-unnamed Tama. This is song is so sweet yet so sad, and absolutely perfect for the scene. Outrageous Fortune, simply put, has some of the best music in a single television series, and it makes me so proud to be a New Zealand as it’s all local tunes, but not the bull shit stuff on C4 that you often get.
Not only is the song so amazing beautiful it makes me want to cry (what else could you expect from The Veils?), but the scene that it is played during is the beginning on Pascalle and Wayne’s affair, which, against my better judgement, always moves me. I have no idea why I’m such a supporter for them, but I am, and if there were ever a close reading task on their whole relationship, I could go to town on pretty much every aspect of their relationship based on dialogue, facial expression and shot type. Can you tell I’m an ex Media Studies student with waaay too much free time?

I just thought it was so undeniably cute. I am, of course, aware that there are countless amounts of worth scenes between these two, but this scene in particular just sticks out for me. There is also the fact that it was the start of the Tool Guys, which was so perfect for them, despite the fact that there was never any mention that any of them were particularly good at that kind of stuff…
Van: Mum? Um I know about you and Judd… I’m… cool with it Cheryl: Really? Van: Nope I’m not totally… but every rose has it’s thorns Cheryl: Yeah, I guess Van: Yeah so c’mere Cheryl: What’s this Van? Van: It’s a hug Cheryl: What for? Van: I just figured you could use one about now, maybe Cheryl: Yeah Van: Mum? I just, I wanted to tell you I love you, even though I don’t love your behaviour
I don’t think it’s any secret that I’m totally in love with Van (among various others), and his relationship with his mother is sooo totally sweet it just makes me love him even more. I like how Cheryl spoke to Aurora after Van found out she’d been working with Tyson, and how she helped him through Aurora’s death - you can see that Van is probably the only one of her children that she really understands. She knows how to speak to him and protect him, and their scenes are really nice. Van is also the only child of hers that she didn’t hit throughout the series… Just a point…
“Tomorrow my boy and I will be going down the line, but before we do that, I wanna give my son a name. Now I have been waiting, for a long time for this boy… And now it seems really hard that I won’t get a chance to see him grow up, but it makes no difference to me to how much I love this boy, and how much my son’s in my heart. And that’s why I’m naming him Tama o Taku Manawa Theodore Judd. Yeah, Theodore. ‘Cause this boy is as much a part of this family as he is mine. He’s a bloody West. And he always will be. Even if he is lying in Wanganui, he will always be a part of you.”
The first time I ever saw this scene I was just in tears the whole time, and they were silent until Wayne had to say “he’s a bloody West” and seeing Van charging his drink (reference to Aurora’s wake, what up), then I was just a mess. Seeing every one so distraught was so moving, and even Jethro, heartless devil man, shedding a tear was just too much. I could tell before it happened that Wayne was going to give the boy the name Theodore, but hearing him say it was so touching… And don’t even get me started on that fucking tiny ass coffin… Jesus the things this show does to me…
Loretta: Someone has to stop this crap Pascalle: You hate Jane, why does it matter? Loretta: Because Hayden Bloody Peters cannot do this Pascalle: He’s not Loretta: Then why are you letting him in? Why the fuck would you do this when he’s the one who pissed off and left? The one who dumped me, and left me with this thing that was growing inside me that I didn’t want and I didn’t wanna have and I was so shit scared, and I was totally alone… Now you’re just letting him back in like it’s nothing when it wasn’t to me.
Every time I watch this scene I’m just overridden with tears. Antonia is just perfection, with the way she looks and Jane and just breaks down
“‘Tease, tease, tease, tease - First date, second date, and even third or fourth, making your man wait is the key to keeping him interested’… well, I think we all know that’s not entirely true”
When Van and Bailey were at the Mongolian restaurant and Van puts the 100s and 1000s on the bread to make fairy bread…This was just the most precious thing ever and I have no idea how bloody Bailey could have resisted…
We’re not camping Dennis, we are enjoying the peace and quiet of this beautiful beach, as is our right in a free country… or at least we would be enjoying it if it weren’t for some jumped-up prick in wool socks shitting all over it with his Nazi bull shit. Is that what you’re doing Dennis?

I love this scene… Robyn and Grant’s acting and chemistry is just spectacular and it’s so cute and funny

Basically Ted is an amazing character and Frank Whitten was a superb actor. Everything about Ted, from his twitching fingers to his sniff was done so incredibly well, no one can compare.
I don’t really know why I chose this as one of the days, because now that I think about it, a better one would be Favourite moment between Loretta and Ted, seeing as they’re both popular characters and they have some great scenes together. If I did do that one, I probably would choose the bit in the first episode when Ted’s goes “It’s nice being in a room full of young people, much better than sitting on your own all the time” and Loretta’s all “worth burning down your house for” and then Ted says “They’re only possessions, love”. The smile she gives him is so sweet. Then there’s the episode when they all take E and Loretta’s like “I love Grampa” and then Ted’s all “I love you too, Rita”. So funny.
Can anyone tell that I do nothing all day but watch Outrageous Fortune?
“If anyone at Totally Tots gives you grief, you rip their hair out”
She’s probably underrated because she never says anything apart for one word every so often, but Little Baby Jane is soo adorable, and I love how she’s like Loretta in terms of intelligence and evilness, but also her own little person in her own way. Stella King is also a great actress for an infant.
